Some interesting percentages coming of today's school board meeting at noon about @SFSchools' latest on its plan for the fall.

In a parent survey launched July 20, more than 11,110 responses were received about in-person learning this fall.
- 71% said their child will return to school this year
- 6.13% said they are not planning to send their children
- 22.28% are undecided
- .68% did not answer

Of the parents surveyed, here's how they felt about the district's new Virtual Learning Academy.
- 8% said they plan to enroll their child
- another 29% are considering the option
- 62% said their children will return to their assigned schools

When it came to face coverings and masks:
- 51% said face covering should be required for students and staff
- 49% said they should be strongly recommended
- 60% said they indicated their child plans to wear a face covering regularly and 35% said it would be a personal choice

In a similar staff survey sent out July 15, the district received more than 2,500 responses.
- 84% said they plan to return to fulfill the position they've been assigned without accommodations

Other highlights include:
- suspending the use of school facilities to outside organizations until October 28
- Outdoor events scheduled to occur at Howard Wood Field during the

- The SFSD will utilize an A/B Modified On-Campus schedule for the first two days of
school to be able to implement and practice safety protocols in smaller groups.

- Ongoing discussions are being held with building administrators to work with staff in
their buildings to create plans to address specific protocols and processes for their building.

These protocols and processes include times before school, after school practices, lunch time, passing times, specials, recess, etc.
- After School Programs: Kids Inc. will run in elementary school buildings. The Community Centers
(located at 5 elementary schools with shared gym space) will continue to operate with limited
capacity, from 3-6 p.m. on school days.

Waivers will be required by the city for students to participate and once capacity is reached, students will not be able to access the program. The YMCA Afterschool Program will run in middle school buildings
- School Day Community Center Programs: Community Center activities that will continue while schools are open and in session are Senior Walking Program at Morningside 8-10 a.m. and Toddler Playtime 10 a.m.-Noon twice a week.
