Let’s kickoff #BlackNeuroRollCall by introducing some of the Black neuroscientists, neuro-engineers, and science communicators on our incredible organizing team! 🙌🏾

We are all SO proud to be #BlackInNeuro ✊🏾🧠
Angeline Dukes @FutureDrDukes is a 4th year PhD student @UCIrvine

She’s the daughter of immigrants from Trinidad 🇹🇹 and Haiti 🇭🇹, a first-generation college graduate 👩🏾‍🎓, and an addiction neuroscientist 🚬🍃

She hopes to be a professor & inspire Black students in STEM 👩🏾‍🏫
Meet @kss_phd aka Dr. Kaela Singleton! She is a BlackQueer woman that earned her PhD in May 👏🏾👏🏾

She is now a postdoc @EmoryUniversity as a #DSPAN and FIRST fellow 👩🏾‍🏫 As a development neuroscientist, she studies how the brain forms in normal and disease states!
Rackeb Tesfaye @RackebT is a neuro PhD Candidate at @mcgillu in 🇨🇦

Up to 80% of youth w/ autism experience sleep problems & she investigates genetic/behavioural factors that may explain why 💤

She also loves creating inclusive STEM audio stories with @science_broads 🎙
Liestsel Richardson @motherofneurons is a rising 2nd year Mechanical Engineering PhD student @UCF doing neuromechanics research to better understand brain dynamics during human lower limb rehabilitation

Outside lab, she spends time with her wife, cat, & several fantasy novels 🐈
De-Shaine Murray @shaineNeuro is a first-gen 2nd Year Neurotechnology PhD student at @imperialcollege, UK 🇬🇧
He is of Jamaican descent 🇯🇲 and a neuroengineer

He is passionate about improving neurocritical care outcomes 🏥 and inspiring Black kids to fall in love with science 👨🏾‍🔬
Ashley Cunningham @ANeurogirl is an incoming neuroscience PhD student @IcahnMountSinai

She studies the paternal transmission of stress phenotypes across generations 👨‍👧‍👦

Outside of the lab, she loves to tend to her many house plants! 🌱💐
Destinee Aponte @idoneuroscience is an incoming PhD student @Harvard’s Program in Neuroscience 🧠

She works on sensory systems 👁️👂🏽👃🏽 and the brain’s role in processing complex sensory stimuli

She loves checking out (both good and bad) horror flicks! 🍿🎥
Clíona Kelly @ClionaKelly01 is a 2nd year Neuroscience PhD candidate in Birmingham, U.K. 🇬🇧

She investigates eye-gaze with a virtual human, by combining virtual reality, eye-tracking and EEG 👁

Outside of the lab, she loves baking and eating goodies w/ Yorkshire tea 😊☕
Gwenaëlle Thomas @getneuro is a neuropharmacologist and rising 5th year PhD student @DukeU

She uses the brain's electrical patterns to better understand how drug therapies can be applied with minimal side effects 💊 She studies schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety.
Elena Dominguez @NeuroCurls is a 4th year Ph.D. student @UCIrvine

She studies the brains of 90 year olds to find if structural characteristics can tell us who will age successfully and who won't 👵🏾

She also LOVES to make vegetarian versions of her favorite childhood meals 🍲
Danielle Nadin @DanielleSipsTea is completing her MSc in Neuroscience @mcgillu 🇨🇦

She studies the network correlates of consciousness & brain stimulation as a treatment following brain injury 🧠

She is actively engaged in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in STEM ✊🏾
Brielle Ferguson @BrielleRyan is a neuroscientist and postdoctoral fellow @Stanford

She is interested in better understanding circuits within the brain that support different types of cognition, like working memory, attention, and cognitive flexibility 🧩
Paige Greenwood @pentopaige_ is a 5th year Neuroscience Doctoral Candidate @uofcincy

She studies the role of socioeconomic status on reading ability using fMRI neuroimaging 📚

She enjoys teaching elementary students about Neuroscience 👩🏾‍🔬, hiking🌻, and going to art museums 🖼️
Ti’Air Riggins @Ti_Enjoli is a biomedical engineering PhD candidate focusing on neuro engineering

She investigates the brain’s response to implantable probes in hopes of understanding how to make the probes function longer 🙇🏾‍♀️

She loves creating art & is a former Miss Indiana 👑
D’Angela Pritchett-Rowe @dangela_pr is a post-bac NAEP Fellow @NIH joining the @KhaliqLab this fall 👏🏾

She loves to study how the dopaminergic system modulates voluntary movement and decision-making!🧠💖✨

She is also a competitive powerlifter 🏋🏽‍♀️ & Black history YouTuber! ✊🏽🎥
