I started to really consider this after I received this ridiculous comment on a piece for @LRB that I wrote about the property of whiteness

White supremacy has functioned to mislocate Judaism as the centre of governing power. White people then have the cheek to appropriate antisemitism as a parallel plight because they then see *any legitimate critique of power* e.g. a critique of whiteness, as “hate-inducing”

E.g., it’s antisemitic crap to claim Jewish people financed and managed the transatlantic slave trade. White people will then claim that it’s hateful to correctly assert that it was white Europeans who were responsible, even though they invented this lie about Jews themselves
