If you don't have love, you don't have God. The love the Father has for the Son is the same love that is to be in us.

John 17:26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
It is part of Jesus being formed in us. The chief attribute will be love.

1John 3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
If you won't love a brother and sister in Christ, God's love isn't in you.

1John 3:10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Not loving brothers and sisters in Christ means you abide in death. The Christian is to be one who abides in love because God's love is in us.

1John 3:14 We know that awe have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.
We know love because Christ loved and died for us. How dare we not sacrificially love fellow Christians.

1John 3:16 ¶ By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
Meeting the needs of fellow Christians is basic to love:

1John 3:17 But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
Stew on this:
1John 4:7 ¶ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
1John 4:8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1John 4:9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
1John 4:10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Love for others is the proof in the pudding that you love God:
1John 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.
If you claim to know God's love then you will love others if God's love is genuinely in you.

1John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1John 4:20a If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar;...
Orthodoxy matters. It is essential. But equally essential is being transformed by God's love so that we are genuinely loving people.

Many with right orthodoxy say "of course I love others" but words are not deeds.
1John 3:18 let us not love in word or talk but in deed &in truth.
