THREAD: I think the Sussexes thought they would leave, launch Archewell, attend the Met Gala, make a huge splash at the Invictus Games, be in high demand. This book would come out and be further proof that they were being “held back” by the royal household & are a huge asset. 1/
Instead, the institution moved on, doing just what royals should, putting duty first, supporting the country during crisis, leading by example and boosting spirits, while the Sussexes have done very little due to Covid and lost precious time when they were the most exciting. 2/
Their most notable actions have all been privacy lawsuit related, which alongside the book has instead made them look like hypocrites (at best) for their blatant participation in the book, and made them a risky potential PR liability which tanks their future ability to earn. 3/
It’s hard to imagine where they go from here. They’ve lost clout/public interest. The expected mud slinging of the MoS lawsuit is likely to make them even more unemployable. The world (especially the US) is still closed due to Covid. They’ve burned final bridges with the RF. 4/
