A thread on liberation practice and building ecologies of Leadership, if you ready.
There are some real talk conversations we need to have about leadership, labour divisions, accountability, discipline & building excellence if we are going to take our movements beyond outdated lefty structures reproducing a gendered politics 1/4
Flat structures/consensus are great for places/ppl levelling power down, not up. It can only work if we account for power & divisions of labour often invisibilised (gendered, racialised, class-based etc) & historical ongoing labour/expertise that leads us to nuanced practice 2/6
We can reimagine ourselves to be led by an ecology of leaders, (moving in & falling back when apt) if we deal w/ our relationship power & what creates abuse. We can create pathways to cultures of accountability
instead of not being honest/honouring the contributions ppl make 3/6
We also come from traditions where there we have guides, prophets, symbols, visionaries - the issue is not to iconise, but collectivise and harness this potential within each of us and restore unconditional value & dignity to each being irrespective productivity. Cyclical 4/6
Many folks not ready for radical forms of leadership coz it means taking responsibility, continuously being entrusted, following thru & holding that ur actions are always having to hold multiple realities that often won't prioritise ur own desires. It is embodying a WE 5/6
Something powerful & humbling in building ecosystems around letting us be led by those that are at cause/of that moment. When I think of the people who have transformed my life, iv allowed to lead me, it was practicing trust/ believing someone knows this the way i cannot 6/6
