Let's look at my last tweet. I said "some." I meant it. Some ppl in the areas where the Shoah occurred to this day deny&obfuscate the planned extermination of the Jewish people by comparing their own sufferings& minimizing both contextual suffering of Jews & their own complicity.

Some...I repeat some....white Southerners use the Lost Cause to suggest that their suffering was greater than that of the enslaved. Their words: the enslaved were "like family" they were "taken care of" and were "given" housing, food, clothing, and recreation. (=labor camp.)
The idea that enslavement was necessary comes from the classic gold god and glory narrative.

But absolutely no reference or sympathy for the incredibly cruel systematic ethnocide and exploitation of Black bodies, identities, time, spirit and future promise in which 70k unbroken years of West African culture and civilization was beaten out of a people.

Their narrative suggests that we need more reactive history that revises the narrative to emphasize white Southern suffering over that of the enslaved over 240 plus years. The lost culture, capital and self determination of Africans in America and their descendants is erased.
I remember when the Malcolm X cap was countered by the Confederate Battle Flag cap: "You have your X, well we got OURS " LIKE ....WHAT?
