#ComicsGate folks. I have a question.
I won't be judging anyone or talking about people in this thread, because I really don't know y'all. I'm legit new to all this stuff but...
I would like to know if you believe "Keep politics out of comics" is sustainable in the long term.

I'll be honest. It's hard for me to understand that in comics especially.
What isn't "political" in 2020 that a superhero isn't going to face after a few arcs?
I think superheroes have to make tough choices eventually or what real impact can they make?

Diffuse the bomb? Easy
Save the Cat? Of course.
Stop the thief? Cool.
But what if...
-The bomber is a Nazi?
-The Cat is carrying a deadly virus that could start a pandemic?
-The thief is stealing back artifacts from his ancestors?

Is it going to be possible to keep politics out of comics once your characters and stories last past the first few arcs?
I'm asking because in interested in learning how to make good comics for all types of people. And right now I can tell stories from my life experiences

I'm a Black Man.
A Husband and Father.
An Army Veteran.
A Christian.
All things that can be (and have been) politicized in America at least.
I could write a few stories about things everyone has experienced. Love, Revenge, Jealousy, whatever...

But eventually if I want my characters to have any sort of longevity, I'm going to have to make my characters make statement or choices that can be seen as divisive right? Their decisions have to come from some life experience they've had right?
And again. I'm honestly seeking clarity and just asking questions because I'm genuinely interested in what y'all are doing.
I don't know any of the #ComicsGate folks well enough to DM or call, so I'm posting it here for open discussion. Thanks.

I'll tag a few folks here who had great input last time. Would like to get your insight.
