Zack Snyder is not infallible. I see a lot of people in fandom either hate him, or completely love him to a God degree. I say this as a fan of his. Snyder Cut? Definitely should've just been released after a brief break due to the tragedy. WB is piggly for that however
The issues with The Snyder Cut, and WB meddling in production isn't new. They did the same to Tim Burton in the mid 90s after Batman Returns (one of the best CBM ever!) Was deemed too dark- they wanted to sell toys. So they hired Schumacher and we got Batman Forever...
Schumacher's Batman Forever is very similar to Justice League dir. Joss Whedon. Both brought in due to wanting an easy cash route, and due to previous films having been deemed "too dark". BvS isn't flawless- im impartial to it...but the way they went abt meddling in JL was very
...bad. Like WB has continued to meddle in their superhero/comic book films for decades. This is the first time something has shifted, and they realized they actually angered a lot of fans due to hiring Joss Whedon, and dumping Snyder. However...my issue
lies in fans being aggressively in Stan God Mode with Snyder, and also the idea that they can just keep harassing people to get what they want (reminds me of the toxic fandom seen in TLJ and the Rian Johnson/JJ sitch). Was WB wrong? Absolutely...
But one must proceed with tact and caution. Clearly if fans didn't speak up, we wouldn't get the Snyder Cut (and hopefully Ayers Cut of Suicide Squad, again more WB meddling, fast tracking and being reactionary). I just hope a backlash doesn't happen if ppl dislike the films
Because to me- all art is subjective. Suicide Squad already is a mid film (that retroactively is better after viewing the excellence in Birds of Prey) but I want to see the original vision. Snyder Cut of Justice League? I want the original vision. I don't really mind if
The films aren't my thing..bc at the end of the day WB should learn that meddling in films only ruins their directors abilities to be creative. This is basic. It's been a practice going back decades. And a huge property like Justice League? I honestly just want to see what's what
I've not seen Joss Whedon's Justice League nor was I a fan of any of the trailers that read as popcorn bro-y/corny (even the pre-Whedon ones) to me versus being a mythological epic with a grand scale that tells the story of the world's most iconic superheroes.
Basically, let directors make the films they want. Studios...stop meddling. Zack Snyder? Not a God, also he deserves to show the film he intended to. Joss Whedon? Trash. Ayer Cut? I support it. Toxic fandom and sexism ? Not a fan.
