Nurturing my own children was placed on me, even when I was fully aware of its honour and significance, I couldn't help but feel like this 'something' has been taken away from me. As much as I want to be 'present' with my children, this idea of a 'prison' is the reason which 2/n
Unconsciously stops me frm taking pride in my household & how its smooth running provides warmth and stability to my family. As a Developmental psychologist,I'm painfully aware of how it is the key to their healthy upbringing, esp. the role of mother as the primary caregiver 3/n
And in today's unstable times, a precious gift that parents can give to their children. There is nothing elitist about it. Its an ideal which we all must all strive for as a society, and facilitate it wherever possible, on all levels.

to be devalued and or seen as a burden that women must shed at all costs. This belief is a poison causing mothers -pillars of the soeciety, to live uncelebrated and unfulfilled lives. This negativity is then passed on to the next generation and the poison wreaks havoc 5/n
in terms of dysfunctional families, a rotten social fabric and a mental health crisis. The economic, social and emotional burden of this havoc is again faced by the very same women who were meant to be 'emancipated'. 6/n
The erosion of family as the centre of society is the crisis of our times that leads to innumerable other crises - of gender, identity, faith. As women we must recognise this poison that has been fed to us from all sides, which is slowly killing us and those around us. 7/n
As a society, we need to place motherhood & family at the centre of our social, economic & spiritual concerns,or else this storm will uproot everyone.
It's sad that many wise people, who happen to be men, are saying the same thing, but will be put down simply coz they're men.8/n

Hence as women who are suffering the consequences of this poisonous idea of domesticity being a prison, we must speak up. I don't know what Twitter debates do except generate more debate. But I hope that other women similarily facing the bitter results of this poison like me 9/n
Will find some solace and strength in fighting off this poison, through these words.
