When more than one person occupies adjacent space, it can create joy and it can create tension. Sometimes both. Simultaneously.

We see this acted out in our homes: interactions with our partners, family & friends can be the source of joy, or conflict. 1/
As you expand this geographically to communities schools /clubs/ pubs/villages/ towns etc, the same capacity for joy and tension exists.

If the tension becomes too much, we can retreat to the safety of our family unit where the underlying support overrides/soothes tensions.

2/
In spaces that humans exist without physical geography, like twitter, you will also find joy and tension.
If the tension gets too much (which it will) you can use the same escape. Lock down for a while; temporarily mute / block to protect yourself from the points of conflict.
3/
I have no doubt I create tension in others sometimes : diversity of viewpoints will do this. Its never been my intention or something I seek. Let me know if I cause offense, it may be ignorance.

Twitter is not a good or bad space in itself. We have to work at making it a better space, for ourselves and each other.

Be well everyone. X
