Reminder that bisexuality is a legitimate sexual orientation and not 'just a phase'. Men and non-binary people can be bisexual. Being bisexual does not always means that an attraction towards more than one gender is divided 50-50 evenly.
Some bisexual people are mostly–but not exclusively–attracted to one gender. For some, attraction changes with time and according to certain contexts. Many studies on bisexuality have focused on monosexual perspectives (heterosexual and/or homosexual), skewing the results.
Being bi does not equal a transition to homosexuality, and bisexual people don't 'like it both ways' because they are promiscuous or unfaithful. This myth is a product of monosexism; the belief that people should have only one sexual identity and type of sexual behaviour.
Having a relationship with someone of the 'opposite' gender does not 'disprove' your bisexuality. You can be bi regardless of your dating or sexual history. Friends might assume a bi person's orientation has changed depending on their current partner, but this is simply false.
Biphobia can be manifested through unintended jokes and lack of credibility, or openly as insults. These attitudes harm the well-being of bisexual people, who suffer with higher rates of depression and anxiety than gay and heterosexual people.
