I think the problem people have understanding misogynists is this: this isn't a quirk, a ploy for attention, a strategy, an "old-fashioned guy" or an isolated personality trait. This is a symptom of a deeper pathology. https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/rep-ocasio-cortez-dismisses-rep-yohos-attempted-apology-for-confrontation-on-capitol-steps/2020/07/23/eb2610de-cceb-11ea-b0e3-d55bda07d66a_story.html
There's a reason domestic abusers are more likely to become mass shooters. Even men who aren't channeling quite that much rage onto women are still pathologically displacing anger onto women. They sometimes hide it or mask it, but they aren't pretending when they show it.
Nobody wants to be "that guy." Yoho's just been kicked off the board of his Christian charity for it. It's not cool, it's not planned, it's *who they are.* They displace anger onto women the same way racists displace anger onto people who look different.
Believe them when they show you who they are. They've been showing women their whole lives. This is just one of those rare occasions when men got to see it, too.
