Few years ago I was at an educational event. I remember I was walking away from where the keynote speaker was due to start speaking. I had attended a few sessions already and wanted something to eat and take time out to rest a bit. I saw @tombennett71 and stopped to say 1/5
...hello to him. He asked me if I was going to the keynote. I said no. He said, “You should go.” This was when I didn’t know Tom and didn’t know much what his thoughts on the keynote speaker were. I thought for a bit and decided to take his advice and went. The keynote was by 2/5
...Sir Ken Robinson. I sat and listened and made up my own mind. The thing I want to highlight here is that Tom wants us to make informed decisions. He suggested I go but didn’t say anything else. That’s rED’s philosophy too, as far as I can make out. Organisers want teachers 3/5
...to be research informed, to listen to research and come to their own conclusions. People who fear what those conclusions will be don’t want teachers to go to rED which is why, IMHO, we see so much brick throwing and conspiracy theories bandied about. I, for one, am glad 4/5
...that @tombennett71 and team put on these great (affordable)events. I’m not the only one. Thank you Tom, @hgaldinoshea and team. 5/5
