A thread about Victor Norwood who died this day on 1983. Victor Norwood was a travel writer who also dabbled in genre westerns and a series of Jacaré books. He is also remembered for writing the best book Badger Books ever published, NIGHT OF THE BLACK HORROR.
Here are some covers of his other fictional books.
As mentioned Victor also wrote non-fiction travel books. Here are some of those.
We get a hint of the kind of man Victor is from this 1951 clipping from The People - Sunday 13 May.

"31 year old Victor, 18 stone & an ex-Merchant Navy boxing and wrestling champion is going by cargo boat [...] to raise money for the trip he has been writing Western thrillers"
We next have a clipping from 1958 where his wife Elizabeth is more than happy for Victor to leave home. And he found diamonds! Just very small ones...
This story from 1960 goes into yet another planned diamond trip and recalls with fondness the time when he sucked venom from his guide Charlie who then went mad and tried to kill him.
Victor has more strings to his bow - on a planned walk from John O' Groats to Lands End he's described as a former concert singer! (Feb 1960)
He also wrote the rather pornographic ISLAND OF THE VOODOO DOLLS and THE LADY WAS A MAN
Victor had a dark side - in 1950 he was fine £50 or faced with five months' imprisonment for the theft of lead ingots and copper plate to the value of £138. (Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer - Friday 12 May 1950)
We end in 1980 - and Victor is trying to sell the film rights to the Hank Janson novels he wrote:
