Been thinking about SGR and BRT and how it all should've been considered as a restructuring of the transport sector instead of separate projects.

(I doubt these ideas are new nor original)
They should have considered decongesting the Nairobi CBD by introducing an inner-city bus system. They had already banned bodas anyways. Yes this would affect CBD revenue stream in terms of park fees but the up side is cleaner air and in the long run higher revenue. 1/
Cos the long game is the city finally taking over the entire Nairobi transport system... think long term.

Mind you this would be phased in slowly as CBD parking is also slowly phased out. 1/ cont.
Next is linking all this to the SGR. Introduce a light rail system with an initial experimentation stage running from Rongai to Railways. (Also build the terminal vastly closer to Rongai CBD) Allowing you to also introduce a Bus route from the station to the stages in Rongai. 2/
PS. Building the station closer would make the rail system rates competitive to the current Rongai matatu rates (100-150). And they'd introduce a travel card you can use on all the bus systems and the rail system. 3/
Now all you do is copy/paste the light rail system with the Nairobi suburbs, ofcourse amending and updating to suit the different problems you'll encounter in implementation on different routes (eg a Ngong rail would prove a headache cos of Ngong Road stops) 4/
Also to rope in the middle class, they reintroduce KBS on the routes they haven't yet developed a rail system for, specifically Westlands and Upper Hill.

Also rework the roads to include bike paths and pedestrian walkways. While also, allowing boda riders to ply these routes 5/
Boda riders would act as an intermediary solution when considering the "last mile" a customer would take to get to their destination if the bus/rail stations aren't near their final destination. 6/
