#WikiLeaks founder Julian #Assange will appear via videolink in Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

He hasn't been seen for more than three months.

A new US extradition indictment will be discussed; his barrister Edward Fitzgerald is here.

This is the today's thread:
We are in court and there has been difficulty producing Assange.

Some lawyers are unable to dial in.

Fitzgerald and Mark Summers are representing Assange in person.

Joel Smith is here for the CPS on behalf of the US government.
Fitzgerald says Belmarsh prison have not anticipated Assange needing to appear.

Judge Vanessa Baraitser says Assange only needs to appear in court if nothing of substance is being discussed.

Earlier this month she said he needed to appear unless he had a medical reason.
Fitzgerald suggests that the defence skeleton arguments for #Assange may submitted be one day later and they may need a fourth week of extradition hearings in Sept.

Smith says the second superseding indictment doesn't need to be considered today.
Judge Baraister: "As it stands no further superseding indictment is before this court."

Smith: "It has been disclosed to the defence."

Baraister: "It has only been disclosed to the court via email from the defence but not formally."
Judge Baraitser: "This court isn't seized this that issue at all".

She says therefore no directions can be made in relation to the US govt's second superseding indictment against #Assange.

The judge says Assange's presence may not be required.
Court adjourned for 10 minutes.
We have returned breifly and Fitzgerald says Assange ought to be in attendance via videolink. Court has been adjourned until that can happen.
