Maharani Sada Kaur is remembered as an extremely important Sikh female figure. She was a warrior and the mother in law of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Maharani Sada Kaur was the chief of the Kanhaiya Misl from 1789 to 1821. She also played a major role in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s...
Capturing of Lahore.
A fierce woman, a warrior, a leader and a strategist, is the kind of legacy we carry.
"Thus fell, after having figured prominently in Punjab politics for about thirty years, the high spirited Sada Kaur, one of the most remarkable women in thehistoryofPunjab.
She had been the mainstay of Ranjit Singh's power, the ladder, whereby that monarch had been enabled to reach the summit of greatness." (Muhammad Latif, History of Punjab, pp 459, 424)
Mai Bhago Ji, Bibi Sahib Kaur and huhdereds of other Sikh women warriors are an inspiration.
But what is sad is that, today, as Kaurs, who carry this legacy, we haven’t really valued it. It’s rare to find many Sikh women engaging in martial arts/gatka.

While the rest of the world echos the need for self defence for women today, Sikhi has been carrying that legacy for..
Hundreds of years.
If, we, as Kaurs learn the skill of martial art, I’m sure we don’t need men/Singhs for our ‘raakhi’.
Guru Sahib has made us independent and blessed us with the art of Gatka and Shastars, I hope more and more Kaurs of the Panth do practice it!
