Once I hired a guy my friend recommended to mount a TV for me and he dropped my tv and broke it, then he brought a replacement but also dropped and broke that one, then brought a third one but lied about what model it was going to be, sent me a fake Best Buy link and everything.
So he mounted that third one but then he warned me “not to move it” which was a bad sign because it was on a swiveling neck and you’re supposed to be able to move those, it’s kind of the point. So I moved it, obviously.
Everything behind the TV, the power strip, everything, was held to the wall with balls of masking tape like a class project, it was frankly kind of amazing. I told my friend and he was shocked his guy did such a bad job.
We hired a professional to remove it from the wall and mount it correctly and they informed us that, for unclear reasons, the first guy drilled holes INTO THE BACK OF TELEVISION which is not how that’s done. The professional guy was surprised that the TV was even still working.
Later, my friend who recommended the first guy loaned him his very nice car and the dude got super drunk and totaled my friend’s car and then I believe he got arrested.
Anyway just thinking about how so much of adult life is just being forced to briefly know weird dudes. It’s one of things Bob’s Burgers gets really right.
