I know this is obvious but it’s hitting like a ton of bricks that you learn what people do not care about by thinking about when/how they’re willing to be audacious
So like, the audacity to mass-spam a public official’s inbox means you don’t prioritize bureaucratic inconvenience over justice. The audacity to record someone during a vulnerable moment without consent reveals that you don’t really care about their vulnerability
obviously this only applies if you believe spamming public officials is an effective way to confront injustice. Whether or not that’s actually true isn’t relevant to my point so don’t try to out-radicalize me in my mentions
I had the most intimate experience of my life with shameless audacity recently and I’m still NOT over it. Side note, for this reason, a great way to do some structured introspection is to think about the things that make you audacious
No matter how hard you commit to pretending to care about people, it’s really hard to disguise audacity, and that audacity will always sway people more than whatever sentimental bullshit you depend on for your empathy cosplay
People who cap the hardest about their unique ability to feel for the people around them are always just the least empathetic people in the entire world. They fetishize care for a reason and the reason is that they only know it abstractly :(
I can’t believe I’m rage-threading right now. Can you tell that I’m rage-threading? I am mad
