Things I learned from teaching online: 1. Pasting agendas as text into Zoom with minute guides for each activity 2. Having a debrief about what worked, didn't work at the end of each seminar 3. Taking a 10 minute break even if you'd all rather just "power on"
4. Asking students to turn their cameras on & giving them the evidence to support why 5. Getting students to do free writes then share their work as text in the zoom chat for super peer feedback 6. Use random breakouts at the beginning of session to simulate small talk in F2F
7. Sending announcements at the same time each week ( @skjethani calls this a "weekly briefing") 8. Checking in with students about what is happening re. Covid and how they're coping 9. Sharing my personal context with students (e.g. introducing my favourite toddler)
As always, these things don't always work in every situation, and I still have a list of things I'm still working out (e.g. what to do with students who are super distracted and distracting others while their screens are on). The learning continues :)
