Here’s my take on internships https://twitter.com/namansr/status/1287231556331819010
/4 Interns need to be paid. That’s how they become accountable. It is wrong to expect accountability from someone who is working free of cost or worst paying for internship. Accountability drives up learning.
/4 Conversely, if interns started paying the companies, it can affect their entire attitude towards the gig. They will come with certain entitlement - never good thing.
/4 They might not want to execute certain menial work, work with a particular team member, or worse not deliver (if on a live project).
/4 Companies shouldn’t pay a lot because they are investing someone’s time in teaching the interns. Time that could have been used productively to build something. Now the ROI depends on the company, but I expect them to work with me post internship and deliver value.
