If you ever have a chance to look into the papers of #LawrenceHill's father, Dan Hill Sr., at Library & Archives Canada in #Ottawa, you'll understand what an extraordinary person Lawrence's mother, #DonnaMaeHill, was. She should be remembered as a Canadian civil rights hero.
About 25 yrs.ago I had the good fortune to spend an entire summer poring through the papers of #LawrenceHill’s dad, Dan Hill Sr. at Library & Archives Canada in #Ottawa. If you are a historian or researcher of African-Canadian history it is a remarkable treasure trove.
#LawrenceHill comes from a remarkable family. His father was Ontario’s Ombudsman, 1st director of the Ont. Human Rights commission & a pioneering African-Canadian historian. His mom was a civil rights activist,his brother is singer Dan Hill & his sister Karen was a poet/novelist
