Two facts to understand:
1) @realDonaldTrump is running ads criticizing Twitter for labeling QAnon, a conspiracy network built around a satanic child cannibalism narrative.
2) Biden is running ads critical of Facebook for failing to ban microtargeted ads with false messaging. https://twitter.com/nickpacilio/status/1287499159319257089

On #1, stop and think what it means to have a problem with Twitter using its 1st amendment right as a private platform to reduce the spread, label lies and not actively recommend the toxic garbage. That’s what they’ve done. Courageous by Twitter but a no-brainer for democracy.

On #2, it’s very important to understand microtargeting of ads containing false info actually *reduces speech.* yes, Facebook’s biz model actually goes against expression. Microtargeting reduces counterspeech as those who would correct in real-time don’t know about false info.

In other words, if you agree with Trump’s message, you you support Q and have a problem with 1st amendment. If you support Biden, you support the 1st amendment. I don’t think people understand much of this. Team Trump is gaslighting on it.

And none of this is censorship, they want you to fight over censorship. It’s actually a debate over the tools of social media which provide velocity and reach. It’s not a freedom of speech issue in the way they argue.

Generals of toxic sludge armies like @DonaldJTrumpJr @arthurschwartz @Cernovich don’t understand or care about any of this as they want to protect their ability to use social media tools to spread this microtargeted misleading if not false info to vulnerable recipients.
