Tonight, I had the most amazing Zoom call.

With my family around me, we watched and listened as an 89yr old holocaust survivor told us her personal & emotional journey - detailing life before, during and after World War II.

Her story was both harrowing and inspiring.

As a young child, she hid under a wardrobe when the gestapo came to her house.

At 9, she hid in an underground hole for a year.

At 11, she asked a family to take her in as their maid, to escape the ghetto.

She lost many family members.

She lost them to hate.

Asked about the current backdrop of recent events and rising racism and antisemitism, she said her message is "tolerance" - to not persecute people, to not hate people who are different, whether it's the colour of their skin or their religion.

"We are all human-beings" 🤗

We cannot ignore that racism and antisemitism exist in this world and hate is spreading again.

We must not sit and do nothing. It's not just about the memory of the holocaust survivors.

It's about the memories of tomorrow.

We cannot be bystanders.

We must be #upstanders
