HP Lovecraft was right about one thing. If Aliens exist they look like cephalopods.

Cephalopods are the most alien intellegent creatures on earth. Highly intellegent, but with an intelligence wholly unlike ours.

Cephalopods contain a number of genes not found in any other creature type on earth, have some unique metabolic systems, use a system with syphons and jets for propulsion, and many have 3 hearts.

Many deep water cephalopods are adapted to survive huge pressure swings that would kill humans.

The biggest problem with traveling to other worlds would be pressure differences.

Octopus squeezing through a tube many times smaller than its body because they have NO skeleton.

Many cephalopods also have chromatophores, which allow them to change colors in a dazzling array of tones and shades.

They can communicate with these colors efficiently. Image being able to communicate a whole set of emotions and ideas fairly instantly with your skin.
