I wasn’t at the earlier march, but @PDXzane was there. When I arrived at the FC, the crowd was large and energetic. A couple of my visual favorites were the CLAWS flag and the angry frown face.
Events picked up as protesters banged and shook the fence. Tear gas canisters were thrown over and back again. Protesters used laser pointers on a spotter that was positioned high up.
There were multiple attempts to pull the fence down on the north side of the building. At one point I heard that part of the south side fence came down. Around then, the feds came back out to clear the street.
This was the strongest show of force that I’ve seen. Tear gas canisters were shot out all over the place, along with other less than lethal munitions zipping through the crowd in a dark Lownsdale Square.
A standoff occurred on Main St. between 4th and 5th. More rubber bullets were shot into the mass. People took cover wherever they could. Like I mentioned last night, I was struck four times: body (2), wrist, and head. Two hit me at the end of this video https://twitter.com/jonhouse_/status/1287312946389897216
Federal agents continued to push forward with crowd control munitions. The second and third photos aren’t the cleanest, because I was taking cover against a tree as more munitions were being unloaded down 5th Ave., where I was standing.
After they moved, I walked to Main and 5th. A protester whom earlier was being helped through clouds of tear gas by two people, now lay motionless on the ground. US Marshals checked on her until she came to. I heard she had a seizure. She eventually rose and walked off with help.
Right before they cleared out, I spotted this shielded officer standing in the middle of the intersection, completely covered in purple paint.
