the guy interviewing him presses chomsky further about "cancel culture" and "political correctness" being bad bc racists should reveal themselves but chomsky reiterates: you stop racism by *preventing people from saying racist things*, that is by enforcing "political correctness"
as he notes, that is the not the solution, but it is "the first steps toward a more civilized society". I'm sorry, he's not some anti-"woke" hack who believes you should be able to go around and spout the most vile racist, sexist and transphobic shit you like without consequences
