I'm covering the play-by-play for the #MASenDebate between @EdMarkey and @joekennedy, live on @NBC10Boston. Follow along! #mapoli
Asked about his supporters' 'cyberbullying' of Broadway stars who were supporting Kennedy, Markey references support from AOC but doesn't answer the question.

Kennedy says his supporters were targeted; condemns Markey supporters for tweeting "bullying works."
Markey references support from the Sunrise Movement, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, and other groups.

Kennedy flexes support from over 60 labor unions, says those people "know I will be their champion."

Markey rebuts with @massteacher endorsement. #masen #mapoli
Alison King, in short to Kennedy: why are you running?

Kennedy repeats his usual response, saying Markey has been an absent senator in western mass and other locations. #masen #mapoli
King: "MA incumbents typically don't face serious opponents. Why are you vulnerable enough for JKIII to push you out?"

Markey: "I can only run as a Markey from Malden," says father drove for Hood and he drove an ice cream truck—a stark contrast with Kennedy's upbringing. #masen
Kennedy: Markey opposed the integration of Boston public schools, Markey supported mass incarceration, Markey supported a constitutional amendment to ban abortion, Markey supported Iraq War, supported detention bed increase. #masen #mapoli
Markey: Kennedy also supported detention bed increase, voted to harm Puerto Rico. This debate is getting super hot, people. #masen #mapoli
. @GraceGomez: What do you think about schools reopening? (asked in eng and span)

Kennedy responds first in Spanish; Kennedy says he has reservations about sending his kids to school and won't do it atm. Says he has voted in House to improve funding to schools. #masen #mapoli
Markey: "only if it's safe; safety will be determined by science." Says right now, Trump + McConnell are blocking help to communities and schools. Underfunding will hurt students in low-income communities the most. #masen #mapoli
. @LatoyNBCBoston asks Markey and Kennedy to provide letter grades on each others' COVID response for constituents.

Markey says both have worked hard and he pushed for UI for gig workers, assistance to healthcare workers, fishermen. No grade for Kennedy.
Kennedy says Markey has been fighting as well and he doesn't doubt his concern for constituents. Kennedy says his campaign suspended operations and raised $100k+ for local groups; says Markey didn't. Also didn't provide a letter grade.
Q: What will you do to show Black Lives Matter?

Markey: I helped to create the first black state senate seat in MA; partnered with Warren and Pressley to end qualified immunity; cosponsored Booker plan to overhaul crim justice system.
Kennedy: "I was one of the first Democrats to declare that Black Lives Matter." Flexes record on support for Black maternal healthcare, making easier to hold cops responsible.
Markey: We need justice for black and brown families. Environmental, education, healthcare justice. M4A, childcare, sick care for essential workers. Markey flies way past time limit.
Kennedy: "We are two privileged white men."

Says his campaign has shown its support for minority concerns.
Tim Caputo asks why Kennedy didn't sponsor @RepJeffries anti-chokehold bill until last month and not in 2015 or 2018.

Kennedy says it's a different concern (I lost my train of thought so idk what happened); flexes support by the late Rep. John Lewis of Georgia. #masen #mapoli
