So is St. Louis ready to talk about the St. Louis Police Foundation and racism?
The Police Foundation is accused of telling Sam Page they didn’t want a black Chief. Page got “push back” from “certain members” of the board. In 2017 the Foundation wanted Colonel O’Toole as Chief, he’s white, wrote letters, made phone calls for him, not Hayden, who’s black.
The Police Foundation wanted O’Toole as Chief in 2017 despite him:

*Drinking on duty and driving in 2017
*Cursing at subordinates on tape for not helping O’Toole’s friend
*O’Toole said SLMPD “owned the night” when activists, reporters and a cop were beat and tased by officers.
The Police Foundation wanted O’Toole as Chief over the black selection even though...

*A Black officer was shot by a white officer in 2017 under O’Toole
*O’Toole lied about the circumstances of the black officer being shot.
Most of the Police Foundation support for officers is in downtown, or with businesses that are not north of Delmar.
The St. Louis Police Foundation fought the black Chief in SLMPD with the foundation paying for outside classes taught by a respected expert about cultural competency until the George Floyd murder and protest.
Doug Albrecht the Chairman of the St. Louis Police Foundation donates to the following candidates:

Ann Wagner
Roy Blunt
Mitt Romney
When the St. Louis Police Foundation first got started around 12 years ago; they had very few black officers in their videos. Black officers questioned that, and that suddenly improved.
Why does the St. Louis Police Foundation have a liaison officer for downtown but not North St. Louis, where the need is more significant?
Doug Albrecht knows this is not true. Their board and donors called Mayor Lyda Krewson and Public Safety Director Jimmie Edwards telling them they wanted Lawrence O’Toole as Chief. They are billionaires and very influential.
