On a rainy day in Canberra I finally start my cross county drive to my on as lecturer in terrestrial biodiversity at @CEB_UWA @uwanews. Prepare for bird and frog updates!
Update 1: turns out crossing borders and moving across states will be even harder than expected. Part due to very poor details provided with tha approvals. Birds today (busy organising):
Update 2: motel owner suggested taking the non-Victoria way into south Australia. I was about the only one
Birding win is not running over the emu that made a sincere effort to meet my front tires
Dog abuse update: the picnic blanket with snacks and water is unacceptable to either dog. Indeed, the dirt and a plastic wrapped dog bed is better
Rural Australia update: no one buys a paper anymore so you can put a newspaper classified ad on tv. Literally an old school classified ad shown on the tv
There were actual ads but didn’t want to harass individuals.
At the halfway across Australia (but not my trip) point, stands the worst I’ve seen in the large fibreglass statue genre. The eyes are so wrong!
Look roadhouse owner, I know you're not "doing me a favour" letting me stay with dogs when you normally wouldn't. I can SEE that there is no one else at your hotel or on the road. I appreciate the room but the lecture is unnecessary.
Also, you're allowed to say no - this is for like three days in the future.
