Do not rush to trade for need in the offseason

Always do your due diligence
-easiest way to find out if a trade is possible is by asking
-respond to offers (even if they’re bad), you don’t know what they’re willing to compromise on. AND always keep respectful interaction, it’s a poor idea to sever trade relations

Trade a cornerstone asset only when getting another building block/solid piece back
-assume less risk when pivoting to a still valuable/productive option
-a bunch of pennies isn’t going to equal a dollar. Get a 1/2 dollar plus a lot of change, if ya know what I mean!

Send out multiple trades in a league-but stagger them!

-I’ve made the mistake of sending multiple similar idea offers (to mult owners) before & the worse/worst one is accepted
-If targeting players within a tier in a league, send the offer you prefer the most first.

Send an interest list or some type of feedback
-Interest list- perhaps sorted by guys you’re targeting in order
-“I like this guy, who do you like from my roster”
-Send over a preliminary offer, like a DM saying “I like your X, do you like my Z&Y?”

Don’t trade just for the sake of trading
-I’m guilty of this: wanting to mix up my roster without a clear purpose.
-Be intentional-target needs only near actual season, gain value & target breakout candidates or undervalued assets.
-Bottom line: Trade to make your team better!

Know each owner you deal with may differ in what type of negotiations they prefer.
-keep track of owners tendencies (always decline 1st, always counter, talking options, always utilize trade polls on Twitter or trade calculators, ADP sticklers, pick enthusiasts, love vets, etc)
