. @jntrnr posted about Eve and it sucks that this didn’t pan out. This is what programming could be like! But it’s not and now I’m sad. At least they did a final open source release though and color me surprised but it’s runtime was written in Rust!

Imagine if we had made coding like this and not some arcane set of incantations you have to learn. Those are implementation details. Who cares, let a computer generate good instructions, let humans just design things and make cool stuff
like some pf the stuff that came out of early computing was incredible! So much was possible, and now no one dares to dream and even if they do, capitalism doesn’t fuel dreams it fuels immediate results.
Like it’s incredible that Microsoft and Mozilla just pay people to do interesting research. We wouldn’t have Rust today without it. Imagine what would be possible if we just paid people to make things that could revolutionize tech in a way that didn’t service a companies goals.
Ah well there’s dreams and there’s reality. Clearly reality won’t fund dreams on the off chance of a better tomorrow
