Facebook's attempt at changing to protect democracy apparently lasted...around 24 goddamned hours. 
"they were *never* going to make the fundamental changes that address the key systemic issues"
Facebook's recipe for protecting democracies:

According to Ms. Eisenstat, Joe Biden could be worse for Facebook than Trump. Ergo...
Facebook: possibly might oppose Russian disinformation networks, but just might not oppose domestic alt-Right groups that use the same tactics. 
Aaaaand basic Facebook hasn't changed a whit, and is a huge threat to our elections.
Moreover and to conclude, Facebook is enormously, entirely full of shit.
