I immediately got reminded of his swing volleyball service which I learnt from him and his secret of running cross country was in eating raw egg. Seeing him we also started gulping raw eggs before running cross country house competitions.

It was sea of people, I remember when I reached near Gomti River bank. At one of the bridge on Gomti i lost my way but with help of some other seniors, his batchmates I was able to reach near a raised spot where his mortal remains were kept.

There were Gorkha soldiers all around his remains. Manoj Pandey sir belonged to 1/11 Gorkha Rifles.
also there were so many important people and here we school types were eagerly wanting to get a glimpse of him.

School 'types' for a Sainik School Cadet is very different,with it comes an ownership. So, we wr near OUR Manoj Pandey sir! I was 4 years junior to Sir, he was in Class 10 and I was in 7th whn I joined

Seeing the crowd I was scared, but determined to get a glimpse of his face. I gathered courage & pushed myself towards Sir. The first soldier looked at me, somehow kept quiet. I crossed and gatherd myself to move ahead but the next one stopped me.

I looked into his eyes words slipped out of my mouth, "main sir ke school ka junior hu". He thought for a moment and allowed me. I looked around but found myself alone among those men in uniforms. With reticence denying the death of Sir within I moved ahead near the remains.

The bright tricolor
was shaping that short figure of Sir. He was a little shorter than me but he used to shoot volleys in volleyball with same power as much powerful used to be his football kick.

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey was a proud #Upsainian/ from UP Sainik School ( #UPSS). This school is celebrating its diamond jubilee. It was first Sainik School of Country established on July 15, 1960. Also,it was first to allow girl Cadets. And only school with PVC. @ajaydevgn
