Happy 9 Thermidor to my favourite hot slut of the French Revolution Thérésia Tallien, also known as Notre Dame de Thermidor, and her only
Thérésia did many things (including fencing forged passports so that people could escape France during the reign of terror), but she’s most famous for her involvement in Robespierre’s downfall.
She was imprisoned in 1794 (where she befriended the future Empress Josephine). At that time she was a 21 year old divorcée with a young child and she was involved in a passionate affair with noted Jacobin fuckboy Jean-Lambert Tallien (they later married then divorced).
When she found out she was going to be guillotined, she sent Tallien (who was not only not in prison but still WORKING IN THE POLITICAL PARTY THAT HAD IMPRISONED HER) a letter that said “I die from loving a coward.” In some versions of the story, she sent a dagger with the letter
And the next day Tallien denounced Robspierre and that was the beginning of the end of ole Maxy (and the reign of terror)
