Seems like everyone is talking subtle sexism/misogyny on here today. I have a million stories. But this one is recent. During “Busy Tonight” the show’s publicist asked if I could do an interview with a journalist. A man.
Even though I was bummed women were not being assigned to cover the show, I said, “Sure!” He asked me a few...whatever...questions. Then he said, “Conan has a podcast. Fallon does really popular exclusive web content, as does Colbert. Kimmel too...
What do you think Busy could do to extend her brand, if she wasn’t so busy being a mom?” My reply was, “All of those guys you mentioned are also parents. So...how do you think they manage that?” The interview ended pretty quick after that, but I was livid.
For the record, the reason those guys can accomplish all that stuff isn’t time. It’s money. Big budgets, big staffs, respectable resources & yes, in many cases, great childcare that is, I assume, handled almost completely, or is supervised & managed, by a partner.
And I would love to read an interview where any single one of them had to explain how they managed to do their jobs while also being a dad. 😂
