Has anybody noticed a sharp upswing in the Portland "white anarchists" / "protests center whiteness" narratives this last week? I'm suddenly seeing it everywhere, in articles and posts, with similar messaging.

It seems like a coordinated effort to erode support and solidarity. -
It's Portland, one of the whitest cities, so *of course* a lot of white people are going to be out. But if you've actually been to the protests then you've seen a very diverse crowd, very representative and way past Portland demographics. -
As to whether elements of the protests center whiteness, that's something that could be more legitimate, and I have heard sometimes. That's not really for me to say, but the protests are not some unilateral, top-down movement, and again, what I've seen in media seems like an op.
Remember in any action, whether it's protests on the streets or trying to get a law passed, the establishment fights back by leaking poison into the narrative, and by sowing divisions among groups that would be unified. And I know they're absolutely trying to do that here.
Be careful what you read and hear, examine where it's from, and especially why the message is getting promoted in media channels if it is. At the same time, don't discount voices from real people if they're telling you there's something wrong with your protest or actions.
By the way a good acid test for a propaganda narrative, not always accurate but a good indicator, is if you suddenly spontaneously start hearing the same message from unlikely people: a coworker, a family member, your partner, your cat, all in the same time frame.
