Thread. My Dad is 80.5 years old. In 1972 he started building a model of #HMSVictory at 1 to 48' scale.
My parents moved back to England grom Australia a few yrs later, bringing the hull of the model back with them. It hung in the garage for the next 40 yrs.
5 yers ago he decided to finish it. He has arthritis in his hands and he'll admit his eyesight isn't what it used to be. Today he is just waiting on a 3D print of the figure head (he admits it's too technical for him to make it from scratch). Otherwise it's finished
Next he's making MTB451, a motor torpedo boat, which after the war was named Lynette, and on which my Dad and his parents lived on until they went to Australia as ÂŁ10 pomes. The stories this model could tell

The rigging is too technical he says, and would make the model huge so he's leaving it as it is. He has put lights inside the lower deck, which illuminates the captain's cabin with it's checkerboard floor. It's quite something and I'm so proud he finally finished it. @RoyalNavy
