Lets talk about why the Yuta situation is so fucked up. A thread:
Mind you this thread with have mentions of s*xual a*use, r*cism and d*ath.
Lets start with who this guy is.

Ligun is a Japanese YouTuber. He is a s*x offender, a r*cist and anti korean. On his channel he had used jjong's and sulli's d*ath for clickbaits and views and made fun of them
Now let’s talk about the anti Korean bit and why that’s so problematic. Durring WW2 Japan committed absolute atrocities to the imperialized Korean peoples. They not only forced thousands to work at factories or fight in the military during the war,
They also essentially k*dnapped thousands of women and forced them to work as comfort women who were forced to work as pr*stitutes in Japanese military brothels. Girls as young as ten were forced to pleasure these grown as men
And while in the Japanese government compensated a certian amount of moneyin 1950 and 2015 , it wasn’t enough. In 2018, when South Korea's top court ordered a Japanese firm to compensate Koreans it used as forced labour.
Mitsubishi Heavy, one of the firms involved, refused to comply with the court order, while two other companies had their assets seized in South Korea.
Japan still won’t acknowledge it and Japanese schools will not teach any of this to their children. Worst of all some of these c*mfort women are still alive and many are dying without getting the justice that they deserve.
Those who are anti Korea in Japan have been circulating more content that expresses hatred of Korea, mocking these victims. Extremists have said these so-called “c*mfort women” were prostitutes who tried to make money from the sex industry.
Yuta openly talking about being friends with this man and saying that he’s “hilarious”when he talks about shit like this makes it seem as though he’s in support of these extremist ideals which, as a celebrity in the KOREAN scene isn’t good for him(also it’s a shitty thing to do?)
The Korean general public does not take to any of this kind of stuff lightly. This type of controversy is far more serious as it hasn’t really been THAT long since all of this happened so it’s still fresh in the Korean peoples hearts.
This would heavily negatively impact NCT and as a result many of the Korean public are asking for Yuta to leave the group.o
This thread only gives a very simplified version of what happened.I as an American will never be able to fully tell you how much of an impact this has on the Korean people nor will I fully understand their pain. I can only sympathize as something like this happened to my people 2
We as Kpop stans and global citizens need to do our research and we need to not talk over the Korean people, especially on a topic as serious as this. Whatever ends up happening, it’s up to the Korean people to say if it’s okay or not.
Here is one of the threads I saw kind of explaining some of the sentiments https://twitter.com/sunprnt/status/1287406881556881408
