“Kindness and compassion are in short supply, just when we need them most.” - @folkslinger When I read this today by the incomparable Mr Guthrie, it summed up how I’ve been feeling about this entire year so far in Canadian politics. @theJagmeetSingh seems to have pushed
“love & courage” out the door, just when we need it most. That’s why I voted for him in the NDP leadership, with genuine hope for a positive & upbeat politician. I grew up with CCF roots & naively believed my generation of peace & love would change the world.
I believed Mr Singh was a breath of fresh air and really had hope. 2020 has brought a bombardment of serious issues to Canada & the world. Any one of which should have seen a country come together for the good of the nation. Instead, we see constant mud slinging
To the point where a full on attempt to assassinate our PM is all but ignored by opposition politicians & the media. There is so much hate all around. As if Covid & climate change aren’t enough to terrify & exhaust us all.
Alas, I am a dreamer & I will continue to IMAGINE & fight for a world of equality, kindness and love. And when I vote, it will be where I see true compassion, even if that means pulling up my roots.
