So can I ask - obviously the priority of the theatre right now is trying to protect and preserve the ecology that’s been interrupted, and that’s what many are focused on.
But the theatre is full of creative people; who honestly believe their storytelling is of value, isn’t just for them. So I know there are people responding innovatively to what’s going on.
I’d be really interested to know what cool stuff is going on out there? Are there things people have seen/done that they like/are proud of?
I’m interested because a. I think increasingly, this autumn people are going to start creating work that bridges the divide between our current situation and the full reopening of theatres;
And b. It seems entirely possible that in doing so, people might create cool new ways of telling that no one’s ever needed to explore before, that could be exciting in the longer term.
I’m really interested in the potential of durational pieces that audiences drop in and out of like Synecdoche New York. What else is going on?
