After the dust as settled on Farnam Street Bridge, I've taken some time to review @OmahaPolice's statements to different news sources. It is clear that Omaha police are lying to somebody. Here is a thread of the mixed statements and reporting.
. @Omaha_Scanner shows a clip of Police Captian Matuza stating, "They [Protesters] were allowed to walk downtown. We escorted them downtown." If this statement was true, why do reports from @WOWT6News show that police declared the assembly unlawful when the march started at 9?
Captian Matuza is also quoted by @OWHnews stating that at the time of 9:15 the protest was completely peaceful. So why at that time were Police cars zooming up and down residential streets threatening to arrest protesters?
Finally, around 9:40 pm, has protesters peacefully returned to their vehicles which were parked on 30th & Farnam. Police trapped them on the Farnam Street Bridge between 29th & 28th. Captain Matuza is once again quoted in @OWHnews saying he suspected things to become violent.
More questions arise when the only injuries sustained are to protesters at the hands of the police. What changed between 9:15 when protesters were peacefully going down the street and 9:40 when they were peacefully coming back up?
Captian Matuza tells @KETV what changed was that protesters entered the streets at 9:40 on their way back. Once again contradicting their statements to other news sources which state that is was declared state it was declared an unlawful assembly at 9 for being in the street.
This protest was peaceful the entire length. No looting, no rioting, no burning buildings, no threat to officers. What did change between 9:15 and 9:40? @OmahaPolice changed its tone from aggressive to straight-up violent.
I really hope these lies can be pointed out by the media. I mean it's not hard to see when @OmahaPolice & Captian Matuza gives different accounts to different media companies and most accounts conflict with eye witness testimony.
@Jess_Wade_OWH @KETV @WOWT6News @3NewsNowOmaha @OWHnews @omaha_scanner

I highly recommend fact-checking the @OmahaPolice's account of events and cross-referencing the mixed reporting to eye witness statements and video evidence.
OPD have changed their tune once again.
