A couple beta enemies from Ocarina of time were discovered in the recent source code leak by Dr. Disco AKA z64me, and he has made them function in-game, Introducing the beta Octorock, appearing in OoT for the first time in 20+ years
We also have the early version of the Wallmaster!
These are two of the most iconic beta enemies, and we finally get to see them in their full glory. Here are early screenshots of both to compare.
Also to be clear, because I might have worded it wrong, Dr. Disco AKA z64me is not responsible for the leaks. He's only responsible for making the enemies work in-game.
The early Stalfos are also present, though they haven't been hacked back into the game yet. This was discovered by Aria Hiro.
Also thanks to Dr. Disco and Zel, an early version of Kokiri Forest was also found, and imported into the game by Zeldaboy14 with help from Dr. Disco and Zel.
Woah, quick update, the early Stalfos has been restored, as can be seen in this video by Skawo
A little bit of information about these leaks:
These leaks contain the source code for the iQue versions of several N64 games. Unfortunately these are forks of the original game and not the original source code.
Theoretically, because these are CVS (Concurrent Versions System) files, you should be able to retrieve any and all revisions of any file made for these games.
However, because they are forks of the projects (at least in the case of Ocarina of Time) and not the original projects, you can only go back to the earliest revisions of the files within those forks. For Ocarina of Time, the oldest files only date back to 2002.
If we had the CVS files for the original Ocarina of Time source, we'd have every single revision to every file in Ocarina of Time, at any point in it's development. Unfortunately that's not the case, but what we do have is still extraordinary.
In case you are wondering, I verified this myself using CVS to read the history logs of the files.
