Stella "7 Series" Ndabeni-Abrahams, minister of Communications & Digital Technologies recently announced a policy giving mobile operators the right to select & enter PRIVATE LAND (Black people, you may stop reading now) to install 5G network infrastructure

Thread...
Some facts: 5G is very fast, 10x faster than 4G. Also, 5G uses millimetre waves to transmit data, which as the name suggests, are very short. So, whereas 4G towers can be placed up to 16km apart, 5G cell towers have to be placed within a few hundred metres of each other...
5G waves have trouble penetrating through walls and foliage. Yes, 5G cannot get past tree leaves, the nodes have to be mounted close to and within "sight" of one another. Those of a certain vintage will be reminded of good ol' infrared file transfers🥺
So, private contractors might need to chop down some of the trees in your neighbourhood and perhaps even your garden to clear the way for the nodes to "see" each other. Yes, who needs trees anyway, all they do is shed leaves and sap and never pick up after themselves
N.B!! If a property owner damages a 5G cell tower installed on his property, he will have to pay. Also, the owner cannot charge the operator anything for the installation except in the case of “intrusive electronic communications networks or facilities, such as masts”. OK...
So, in short, it is likely that hundreds of thousands of 5G nodes will be scattered around everywhere, on lamp posts, high rise buildings and traffic robots. Not on trees however, because trees have leaves, and 5G hates leaves
In the spirit of of Ubuntu and cooperation, the minister has offered the citizens the opportunity to feel like they have a say. They may accordingly send their opinions on the matter by 30 Sep to the Acting Director General of Department of Communications & Digital Technologies
