Hey tweeps, have any of you written about the exhaustion that comes from dealing with microaggressions in the workplace? I really liked this article “from office pet to office threat” but on the hunt for more examples to help put into words how I’m feeling https://zora.medium.com/when-black-women-go-from-office-pet-to-office-threat-83bde710332e
Some things that jumped out at me in this ariticle. For me it’s been a turn from “you’re so adorable” to “you’re lucky to even be here” it’s incredibly demoralizing especially when you don’t have anyone to turn to for support
A few weeks ago I wrote a thread about tone policing in the workplace. Feels appropriate to add here. https://twitter.com/chescaleigh/status/1270825199643111425
I was also told the thought of hiring me was “scary” because I “didn’t have enough experience.” I was truly so stunned I didn’t know how to respond. Like. Do you not hear what you’re saying or do you just not care? https://twitter.com/chescaleigh/status/1271823601721913344
