Analyzing Jean and Floch's interaction and relationship: a thread.
#AttackOnTitan #Floch #Jeankirstein #Flojean
The first time we see them together, Jean rather rudely answers Floch's question "are you a veteran?", saying that compared to Floch he is. Floch reacts calmly and reminds that they were in the 104 together. I suppose they used to be friends in cadet corps, as Floch and Jean
during that time were similar in character, however, Jean has changed and Floch noticed that he changed only during their conversation before the battle of shiganshina district, which means that after graduating from cadet corps they did not communicate.
After the battle of shiganshina district, Floch changes too, he saw the horror Jean saw, he lost his friends just like Jean, and it seems that they started talking again, although it is difficult to say if they became friends or not.
Interesting part starts after timeskip.

Jean tells Floch to minimize the damage dealt to the civilians, but Floch thinks that everyone in Marley are their enemies. "You're still saying stuff like that?" means that Floch has already spoken about his radical views and Jean
already disagreed with him. That could mean that Jean tried to change Floch's radical views. When Floch kills a volunteer so easily Jean is shocked, as if he can't believe that Floch is capable of doing it. If they are friends it seems like Jean feels guilty for not
helping Floch to make the right choice. Jean disagrees with Floch's views and judges him, but Floch have deep respect for Jean, as he repeatedly praises him and calls him a hero. Floch immediately believed Jean when he joined the Yeagerists.
Yes, Floch, the one who immediately figured out the enemies plans and understood that Connie and Armin are traitors. He must have a reason to trust Jean like that, right?
First thing i thought when i saw this panel is that Floch holded a grudge against Jean for looking down on him during their conversation before the battle of shiganshina district, and when he finally became important too, he hit back. But i don't think that's the only meaning
behind his words. If they were friends in cadet corps it means that Floch didn't see anything bad in being "an arrogant bastard". He liked Jean the way he was. And "you should go back to being your old self" means "i will accept you". Floch wanted Jean to join him to the point
he immediately believed Jean when Jean joined him. In result, they have really interesting and complex relationship: Jean wants Floch to be good and Floch wants Jean to be on his side. Jean judges Floch and Floch respects him.
