I first read this book around 6 years ago and it was a milestone in my evolution as a teacher. It led me down a road to Doug Lemov, Greg Ashman, David Didau, Rosenshine and evidence based teaching. I'm absolutely a better teacher now because of the impact of this book.
If you've not read it but have heard it's an evil, terrible Gradgrindian book, or if you think it wouldn't align with your ideas about education, then I'd recommend it even more.
After all, there is no development without some level of challenge: we should always be prepared to consider, reflect and adapt as teachers. Try it - what have you got to lose?
