/7 New @ECDPM #EUbudget estimates comparing 2014-2020 #MFF #EU28 and #EUCO proposal after #Brexit: http://tiny.cc/4vaksz  Despite member states' push for cuts, funds for external action still rise by 2%. Not much for the ambitions of the geopolitical @vonderleyen Commission
/7 Funding to Sub-Saharan Africa is ⬆only 1% despite Europe and Africa partnership push. #EUNeighbourhood has the biggest rise, by 11% = €1.8 billion. 📈 But there may be more to come: our calculations don’t include Africa dimension of EPF & top ups from the #NDICI cushion.
/7 #NDICI versus its predecessors (ENI, DCI, EDF, EIDHR, IcSP) rises estimated 3% = €1.8 billion. Maybe not as much as many would like but bottom line is that NDICI survives with the EDF gone. @AndrewSherriff @virginiamucchi
/7 Other regions (-26%) and thematic (-37%) are the bigger losers of Heading 6, losing more than €3 billion each. But thematic now would cover only global and transregional actions, unlike before.
/7 Some things are very hard to compare, like African Peace Facility with the new European Peace Facility or old Emergency Aid Reserve and the new instrument. @EU_Commission I know you know it! 😉 Amazing if you can share more info on that and beyond 🤞
/7 The @Europarl_EN is in fighting mode. With no role on the #NGEU may want to show its role on the #MFF. The battle may be more about shuffling amounts within #NDICI rather than big rises or transfers to Heading 6. Will they ask for a mid-term review too?
/7 Comparison VERY tricky so pls check our caveats and send us feedback!
