People of the #FreelanceTaskForce, I really think we shouldn’t try to be a single unified campaign. It’s taken me a while to really grasp the size + creative potential of this group but I’m sure that between us we can have many many ideas, some doable, some utopian, all allowed.
I can really understand the drive for consolidation + gathering round ‘key’ points to gain traction/action, but let’s not abandon the spirit of multiplicity + debate + re-design. And let’s not forget the margins; the quiet voices, the ones working away outside the ‘centre’
I did my MA thesis on applying permaculture principles to the design of experimental educational spaces. This acknowledges that the edges/marginals/fringes of any group are often the places for greatest innovation + that multiple outcomes are more useful than one (monoculture).
Also, let’s not forget the tools of our actual trades in this whole thing... like humour, wild ambition, unrealistic ideas, imagination, dreaming up the impossible, making the impossible feel real, making the impossible actually happen, provoking, being weird + over-ambitious.
